Abstract

Linseed (Linum usitatissimum L.) is one of the oil crops which can be grown harsh environments. According to the importance, physiological studies are as important as cultivation studies. Linseed has to different seed colour. Seed colour is related to the seed oil composition. Seed colour in linseed is controlled by several genes and mentioned as genetic marker in previous studies. In this study, the effect of seed colour and seed weight on seed vigour are investigated. Two seed colour varieties (yellow and brown); two seed weight varieties (small and big) used in the experiment. The experiment was carried out in an incubator set to 22±1°C with 3 replications according to the Split Plots Experimental Design. The result of the research; It was found that the effect of seed colour on germination power of seed was very important and the effect of seed size was insignificant. As a result; It was concluded that the germination power of brown seeds was higher in linseed varieties and there was no direct relationship between germination power of 1000 seed weight.
